I Want a Summer Thunderstorm

by Jordan McNeill

The insurmountable wall of heat
Breaking in a flash.
Pounds of water reduced to tears,
Traveling down my back,
Soaking my core.

The tumultuous tremors of the air
Causing my eyes to close
And my chest to open.
Taking in the wonder and beauty
Of darkness during the day.

I want a summer thunderstorm.
I want a way to cleanse.
